As we always say, a good chair isn’t good if it doesn’t fit.

Most furniture manufacturers build their styles to suit average size people, generally between 5’4” and 5’8”. People who fall outside of this height range often sit on furniture that is the wrong size. Some manufacturers are now building furniture that suits taller people, but there are limited options for people who are shorter than 5’4”.

As people age, they lose height. People who were 5’1” or 5’2” in their twenties, often slip under 5 feet as they get older. Finding furniture to fit properly is often difficult. The Topform Petite recliner suits people from 4’6”upwards.

One of the most important elements of good sitting is having your feet flat on the floor. (See Sitting Correctly for more information.) If your feet are not on the floor, your legs hang off your hips and spine like pendulums. This causes postural stress on the lower back and hips, and is a root cause of back pain in people who are under 5’4”.

Topform recliners, lift chairs, and sofas are fully Australian made. They are constructed with a Tasmanian Oak hardwood frame, have fully steel-sprung seats and use Dunlop Enduro Foam. They have a 10-year warranty on frame, springing, seat foam padding and mechanism.
